Since the inception of the automotive industry there have been a number of debates regarding the success of cars.  The only decisive factor in this regard is the number of sales annually. The recent recession has made the think tanks to reevaluate this criterion, and now a more intense and complex calculation is carried out, which is based on a number of factors, such as cost, luxuries, etc. But through the years it has been anonymously decided that the sales per model remain the top most factor in determining the success of each car. Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Golf are more and more popular among the masses and are regarded as the most reliable cars up to date.

Ford Model T

This car was among the earliest models of Ford and successfully sold 16.5 million units, making it the fifth bestselling car in the history. This car was the first car to be manufactured using the assembly line concept, thus making it cheaper and contributing in its immense sale.

Volkswagen Beetle

The fourth highest selling car, ruling the automotive industry for more than 60 years, this incredible car has sold more than 21.5 million units and had the same body, only with some mechanical advancement with time.

Volkswagen Golf

This car has been popular on the global market for nearly 5 generations now and has successfully sold about 24 million units. This car is under production since the year 1974 and also has a sports version.

Ford F Series

This is an incredible thing to believe that a pickup truck holds the record for the second most number of sales ever by a car, with more than 25 million units running on the roads across the globe. Each year a million of these cars are sold, thus contributing in its high sales to date. The most intriguing fact is that this car is only popular in the North American region only.

Toyota Corolla

Toyota started the production of Corolla in the year 1966; little did it know that it will become the bestselling car of all time. It is the most successful car ever made, with more than 35 million units still running across the globe. Toyota made this car to bring compactness with quality, style, cost effectiveness and enhanced its upcoming models with the needs and requirements of modern times. With more than 40 years on the roads, this car still has a long way to go.
